Soil and water pH is incredibly important because it positively or negatively affects how nutrients are available to plants. See the chart below that demonstrates how different pH values affect the uptake of different nutrients.
Masterblend always recommends having your soil, or the water used in hydroponic systems, tested for pH. This way you will know what you are working with and have insight about any adjustments that should be made to get optimum results. Note that when growing in soil or a commercially available mix, it may have some nutrients in it already, but when growing hydroponicslly there are typically no additional nutrients in the water. It’s always a good idea to know what exactly is present in your growing medium or water.
