Typically we recommend fertilizing once a week when growing in soil. When growing hydroponically, and if your hydroponic system allows it, mix according to the instructions and always have the fertilizer solution flowing around the plant's roots. There are, however, a couple things to consider depending on the age of your plants.
If you are just getting your plants started from seed, you will want to start fertilizing at half strength until you see the first "true" leaves. These are the leaves that grow out after the seed has opened that look like the plant that they will become. Water at half strength for a week or so. Then increase the rate to full strength after that.
If you have purchased starter plants that have their "true leaves" already, you can start fertilizing at full strength as soon as you plant them.
