We are often asked if our water-soluble fertilizer formulas are organic. The short answer is "no", but not because we don't want it to be organic. It can't be organic and here is why.
Organic fertilizers are made from mined rock minerals and natural plant and animal minerals. They include ingredients like manure, guano, dried and powdered blood, ground bone, crushed shells, rock, wood, pulverized fish. In order for any fertilizer to be 100% soluble in water, you cannot use any plant or animal ingredients (which can also harbor pathogens). Masterblend is 100% soluble in water because we process all of our ingredients to remove plant & animal ingredients, any insoluble non-nutrient matter, and heavy metals. We use only technical grade ingredients that have been processed for the best solubility and because they are processed (and removing all plant & animal ingredients), it is not organic.
